The semester is almost over and things have greatly improved. I got a new job (I will finally be done with Durfey's!!) and i'm super excited about it. Its at this place called Center for Change, which is a resident treatment center for people with eating disorders. Its my dream job! Believe me I know how weird that sounds. :) But really it is. This is what i want to focus on when i get my degree(s) anyway, so why not start now! People keep telling me "oh good i'm glad, you'll have so much fun." which makes me laugh because this isnt really a job that "fun" gets associated with very often. But i think it will have its fun times, along with its very hard times.
Besides that everything else seems to be going pretty well. With the semester coming to end i'm SUPER busy trying to get all my papers and projects done... but i'm very easily distracted. Obviously. :D
I'm very excited to be able to read again once this semester is over. My plan is to finish my last final and go straight to the library and check out a BUNCH of books! Maybe this makes me weird, but i'm totally excited for it.
Yesterday I went on a fieldtrip for my Abnormal Psychology class to this treatment center called Wastach Clubhouse. It was very inspiring. This is a treatment center like no other i've come in contact with (which, honestly, isnt very many) and its a refuge for people with severe mental illnesses. They focus on controlling their illness and getting back to being functional in society. At the facility they have a thrift store for the members (thats what they call the patients) so that they can get clothes and basic needs for super cheap since most of them are/have been homeless or are on SSI so they have next to nothing. The director told about how one of the members was so excited because she was able to by a whole set of dishes from the thrift store for $2... It was so sad. So, i've decided that i'm going to out together a DI (type) drive and take everything i get to Wastach House. There really isnt much you can do to help people with mental illness unless you're a professional... But i can do this. So if any of you want to help let me know and i'll come pick up whatever you want to donate. I'm hoping to make this a great christmas for everyone at the Clubhouse!
